About Us

Evergreen Garden Club (EGC), Inc. was established in 1965. Since then, club members have continuously responded to community needs for beautification at numerous public spaces throughout the Evergreen, Colorado community.

Members volunteer their time and abilities throughout the year in such ways as participating at our membership meetings, planting and maintaining our public gardens, and sharing experiences from their own personal gardens.

Whether through educational programs or public gardens work projects, EGC members and the community mutually benefit from our club’s existence. By helping out on projects, members gain valuable information from each other on the what, where, how, when, and why of gardening in the foothills and mountains region.  â€‹

Evergreen Garden Club generates funds for its community service projects primarily through two endeavors:

Digitalis purpurea - Purple Foxglove

Evergreen Garden Tour

During the growing season, we feature up to five fabulous area gardens generously offered by area residents. These displays showcase the education, creativity, functionality, artistic expression, and of course, beauty associated with gardening and regional horticulture. Some years, additional features may be encountered during our Garden Tour, including local artisans who sell their garden paintings, demonstrations on plant care, or a modest plant sale. The Garden Tour is very popular and we could not accomplish it without the incredible volunteerism and support by our members and the community.

The Members Plant Sale

There are years when EGC members employ their skills at growing seedlings, cuttings, and transplants to sell to the public in the form of a Plant Sale, conducted during the growing season. At this event, members assist patrons in selecting the appropriate plants that are for sale and members often engage in wonderful conversations with visitors on the joys and challenges of foothills/mountains gardening!
